SPACE FOR REPAIR

On 12 June 2025, SPACE FOR REPAIR in cooperation with the Alfried Krupp Schüler*innenlabor der Künste (Alfried Krupp student laboratory of the arts) held a workshop with year 10 pupils from Goethe Gymnasium Dortmund.⁠

The participants explored the questions of how design relates to repairability and how longevity is connected to sustainability. The workshop focused on the so-called R-strategies – approaches for more sustainable product use – including ‘Repair’, ‘Repurpose’, and, in this session, particularly ‘Remanufacture’. The pupils put these strategies into practice by creating functional fans from dismantled electrical appliances.⁠
